HYPIEND intervention studies presented at the Early Nutrition Symposium held by the Universitat Rovira i Virgili

Noemi Boqué (Eurecat) presented a poster on the HYPIEND intervention studies at the URV’s Early Nutrition Symposium 2025.

On March 12-13, Noemi Boqué, researcher from Eurecat‘s Nutrition and Health Unit, presented the HYPIEND intervention studies at the Early Nutrition Postgraduate Symposium, organised by Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Reus, Spain. This event gathered researchers and healthcare professionals to discuss paediatric nutrition and strategies to improve early-life health through nutrition.

During the event, Boqué presented a poster titled “Understanding and Preventing the Impact of Endocrine Disruptors on the Hypothalamus-Pituitary Axis in Sensitive Populations: The HYPIEND Clinical Studies.” The poster highlights the potential risks of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), particularly during the perinatal and prepubertal stages, and details the HYPIEND studies evaluating strategies to reduce EDCs exposure and protect children’s development.

HYPIEND is conducting two European-wide clinical studies to evaluate the effectiveness of a multicomponent behavioral intervention. These studies, implemented in Spain, Belgium, and Poland, aim to lower EDCs exposure in pregnant and lactating women, as well as in prepubertal children. The intervention includes workshops and a mobile app designed to help participants make informed lifestyle and environmental choices that minimize EDCs-related risks, as well as an educational program and a plastic-free canteen implemented at schools.

The Early Nutrition Postgraduate Symposium served as a key platform for advancing research and education on early-life nutrition. Organized by the Pediatric Nutrition Research Group (PEDINUR) at Universitat Rovira i Virgili, in collaboration with other Spanish universities, the event fostered scientific exchange on nutrition’s role in shaping long-term health outcomes.
