On Wednesday 19 March, researchers from the HYPIEND partner Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) took part in the third edition of “Ciència al carrer: Fira d’ESO amb mirada STEAM” (“Science in the Street: Secondary School Fair with a STEAM Focus”), a science outreach event that brought together approximately 600 students from 14 secondary schools outside the Espai Betúlia in Badalona.
IGTP scientists hosted the workshop “Clean Air Mission: Protecting Our Planet and Our Health.” The session was led by Dr. Raquel Rodríguez, Dr. Daniela Ardila, and Dr. Júlia Gomez from the Paediatrics Department at Hospital Germans Trias, together with Dr. Anna Sala from the HYPIEND research project at IGTP. The air quality project behind the initiative is led by researchers Paula Sol Ventura and Marta Ocaña, who are also the principal investigators of the HYPIEND project.
The IGTP workshops introduced scientific concepts to secondary school students in an engaging and accessible way, providing a valuable platform to spark young people’s interest in science and technology.
The 3rd “Ciència al carrer: Fira d’ESO amb mirada STEAM” was organised by the Centre de Recursos Pedagògics of the Education Department of the Catalan Government, Escola de Natura Angeleta Ferrer, Escola del Mar-Centre d’Estudis Marins, and the Area of Environment and Sustainability and the Education Service of the Badalona City Council.
