HYPIEND partners from the University of Granada and Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) delivered two presentations at the XXXII Congress of the Spanish Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (SEGHNP) held in Salamanca, Spain during 14-15 of May.
Dr Carmen Freire, toxicology professor at the University of Granada (UGR), delivered a talk on food-related endocrine disruptors and children’s reproductive health. Her contribution addressed the potential effects of dietary exposure to endocrine disruptors and highlighted the importance of understanding how these substances may influence health from the earliest stages of life.
The programme also included a talk by Dr Paula Ventura, researcher and paediatrician at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), entitled “Endocrine disruptors, invisible interferences: how the environment modulates our hormonal biology”. Her presentation explored the ways in which environmental factors can interact with hormonal systems, offering a broader perspective on the relationship between environment, biology and paediatric health.
The participation in this congress provided an opportunity to bring scientific knowledge on environmental exposures closer to healthcare professionals, with a particular focus on how endocrine-disrupting chemicals can affect hormonal regulation, nutrition and child development,
