HYPIEND research presented at Obstetrics and Gynaecology Conference in Granada

HYPIEND project was presented during the “Jornadas de Actualización en Obstetricia, Ginecología y Reproducción”, a professional training event in Granada

The HYPIEND project was presented during the Jornadas de Actualización en Obstetricia, Ginecología y Reproducción”, a professional training event held in Granada, Spain, from 11 to 13 March 2026. The conference brought together healthcare professionals, researchers and specialists to discuss the latest developments in maternal health, reproductive medicine and obstetric care.

As part of the scientific programme, Dr. Olga Ocón, gynaecologist at the Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio and researcher at the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA), University of Granada, delivered a presentation on 11 March titled Influence of Endocrine Disruptors on Maternal–Fetal Health.

During her presentation, Dr. Ocón addressed the growing scientific evidence linking Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) to potential impacts on maternal and fetal health during pregnancy. These substances, which are present in many everyday products and environments, can interfere with hormonal systems and may influence metabolic and developmental processes during critical stages of life.

The presentation also introduced the HYPIEND study, which investigates how reducing exposure to endocrine disruptors during pregnancy could support healthier maternal and fetal outcomes. By focusing on pregnancy as a key window of vulnerability and opportunity, the project explores practical strategies to help expectant mothers minimise contact with harmful environmental chemicals.

As part of the session, several slides presented general recommendations to reduce exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals, including practical lifestyle and environmental choices that pregnant women can adopt in their daily routines. These recommendations reflect the project’s aim to translate scientific knowledge into actionable guidance that can be shared with both healthcare professionals and patients.

Participation in this conference allowed HYPIEND research to reach clinicians and specialists directly involved in maternal care, helping raise awareness of the importance of environmental factors during pregnancy and encouraging discussion on preventive approaches that can support healthier pregnancies and long-term health outcomes.
