Partners from HYPIEND’s coordinator Eurecat Technology Centre presented the project at the ENKORE cluster kick-off meeting that took place within the final event of EURION cluster, in Brussels, Belgium, on 13 and 14 June, 2024.
The Eurecat’s Biotechnology Area director, Antoni Caimari Palou, presented the HYPIEND project. The presentation focused on HYPIEND’s approach on understanding the effects of mixed exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC) to the Hypothalamus-Pituitary (HP) axis function and programming. It also explained how the lifestyle intervention studies will be carried out across Europe, and HYPIEND expected outcomes that will contribute to improve the risk assessment, generate new scientific knowledge and increase citizen awareness on EDCs.
HYPIEND was represented by HYPIEND coordinator, Chiara Baudracco, from Eurecat Technology Centre; Maryse Ledent and Océane Bobin from Sciensano; Laia Tolosa Pardo from Medical Research Institute La Fe (IIS La Fe); and Eva Serrano Candelas and Laureano E. Carpio from ProtoQSAR.
Partners from other ENKORE cluster members (EDC-MASLD, ENDOMIX, MERLON and NEMESIS) also presented their projects. ENKORE, which stands for Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals and Knowledge on Health-Related Effects, brings together five pioneering research projects dedicated to understanding and mitigating the impact of EDCs on human health. The knowledge shared within the ENKORE cluster will significantly shape our approach to managing and mitigating the risks associated with EDCs. The kick-off meeting already allowed to build common collaborations and strategies among different European research lines that work to bridge the gaps between science and policies regarding EDC’s impact on human health.
