HYPIEND has been presented at the 64th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), taking place in Marseille, France, from 8 to 10 September 2026. The international meeting brings together the paediatric endocrinology community to exchange research and clinical advances in the field.
Dr Paula Sol Ventura, researcher at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), presented the poster “HYPIEND Project: Baseline Characterization of a Pediatric Cohort in a School-Based Intervention Study on Endocrine Disruptors.”
The work describes the design, recruitment process and baseline characterisation of HYPIEND’s prepubertal cohort. In Spain, the study has recruited 360 children aged 6–8 years from 17 educational centres, combining anthropometric assessments, questionnaires and biological sample collection to build a comprehensive baseline for the intervention.
The school-based study compares two educational approaches, including a holistic intervention involving children, families and school staff, with the aim of assessing how educational strategies can help reduce everyday exposure to EDCs during a sensitive developmental period.
The establishment of this well-characterised paediatric cohort will enable the project to evaluate the intervention longitudinally. The next steps include completing the educational workshops with families and school staff, analysing EDCs in the biological samples collected and integrating the results once the school intervention has been completed.
