HYPIEND presents EDC research on pregnancy and fetal health at HEAL Conference

Dr Alicja Baska, HYPIEND partner from CMKP/CPME presented the project at the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) international conference in Warsaw

On June 10, 2025, Dr Alicja Baska, HYPIEND partner from Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education (CMKP/CPME) presented the project at the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) international conference in Warsaw, Poland.

The conference brought together European and Polish experts, scientists, policymakers and stakeholders to discuss urgent health impacts of harmful chemicals and necessary policy measures.

During a session on health effects of chemical pollution, Dr Alicja Baska delivered a presentation titled “HYPIEND project overview: Focus on the impact of Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) on pregnancy and fetal health”.

EDCs are chemicals that can interfere with the operation of the hormonal system. These are especially critical during developmental stages of life, such as pregnancy, infancy, and childhood. The HYPIEND project aims to understand the effects of EDC mixtures on the function and epigenetic programming of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary Axis (HPA), and to develop intervention strategies that reduce exposure and its consequences during the two most vulnerable stages: the perinatal period and preadolescence.

The HEAL international conference, organized under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, aimed to build capacity, raise awareness and foster collaboration among decision-makers to drive action at both national and EU levels.
