HYPIEND member from Eurecat, Dr. Dorota Komar, exposed the health impacts caused by early exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), at the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM) 2024 Annual Medical Conference held in Newcastle Gateshead, United Kingdom, 19th-21st September.
The presentation, entitled “Endocrine disruptors and epigenetic programming during windows of development—How environmental pollutants predispose us to diseases”, delved into the health risks derived from EDCs exposure during critical development stages. Furthermore, HYPIEND was mentioned as one of the EU-funded projects that studies endocrine disruptor chemicals’ effects on the hypothalamus-pituitary axis, and aims to reduce the exposure and its consequences during pregnancy, breastfeeding and early childhood.
The BSLM 2024 Medical Conference focused this year on healthy lifespan with the theme: “Start Well, Live Well, Age Well” and brought together 1200+ delegates from all health disciplines, including clinicians and patients.
