IGTP presents HYPIEND at Badalona Science Week

On 27 November, HYPIEND partners from Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) presented the project research and its studies at Badalona Science Week in Badalona, Spain. For 29 years, this event has brought science and technology closer to citizens with the aim to foster scientific vocations among the young population.

In this edition of the Badalona Science Week, Paula Ventura, Raquel Rodríguez, Marta Ocaña and Anna Sala, from IGTP, offered an overview of the HYPIEND research to understand the impacts of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) among sensitive populations. The presentation introduced as well the HYPIEND intervention studies to minimize the exposure to EDCs in pregnant woman and pre-pubertal children.

IGTP presents HYPIEND at Badalona Science WeekHYPIEND project will conduct two European-wide clinical studies to evaluate the effectiveness of a multicomponent behavioural intervention. The intervention, conducted in Spain, Belgium and Poland, will feature workshops and a mobile app to diminish levels of exposure to EDCs in women and their children up to 18 months after birth, and 6-8-year-old children.

IGTP is in charge of the interventional studies to modulate EDCs exposure in sensitive populations. To do that, IGTP will assess the effectiveness of multicomponent strategies, the performance of biomarkers and evaluate if HYPIEND interventions are able to prevent some of the harmful health effects related to Hypothalamus Pituitary disruption.

The 29th edition of the Badalona Science Week focused on science and technology ethics, and how innovations impact society. A range of talks on biotechnology, artificial intelligence and natural resources were offered to citizens and families between 13 and 19 November 2024.
