The five ENKORE Cluster projects, including the HYPIEND Project, were presented at the 6th Annual Forum on Endocrine Disruptors, organised by the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium, on 29-30 October, 2024. Dr. Josep Mª del Bas, Scientific Coordinator of Eurecat’s Biotechnology Area, represented the HYPIEND project at the forum.

Dr. Josep Mª del Bas, Scientific Coordinator of Eurecat’s Biotechnology Area, presenting the HYPIEND project at the 6th Annual Forum on Endocrine Disruptors. The talk highlighted HYPIEND efforts to understand how endocrine disruptors affect the hypothalamus-pituitary axis in sensitive populations. It emphasized the project’s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and enhancing public health and consumer safety. Additionally, the two HYPIEND intervention studies, designed to develop effective prevention strategies, were introduced.

In the dedicated ENKORE Cluster session, key researchers from the other projects presented their work: Prof. Susana Viegas (NOVA National School of Public Health) on the NEMESIS project, Dr. Jorke Kamstra (Utrecht University) on the EDC-MASLD project, Ana Zenclussen (Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research) on the ENDOMIX project, and Terje Svingen (DTU National Food Institute) on the MERLON project.

The Forum on Endocrine Disruptors brought together scientists, authorities and stakeholders with expertise. The aim was to exchange information and best practices, identify challenges and build synergies, with a specific focus on substituting the most harmful chemicals.
